2018 Legislative Updates

2018 Louisiana Legislative Session Final Report

“Challenging” is an accurate explanation of the political climate for both the Legislature and for ABC Louisiana this year.  Look no further than the fact that the Louisiana Legislature had a record breaking four sessions in the first half of 2018.

Despite the challenges, ABC of Louisiana secured multiple victories in these legislative sessions that strengthened our industry and our state’s economic climate.  We defeated numerous pieces of legislation that would have negatively impacted our members and our industry.  And most importantly, we successfully promoted and defended free enterprise and the merit shop philosophy in Louisiana.

Below is a recap of activity on some of the bills of note tracked by ABC during the 2018 Regular Session of the Louisiana Legislature.

Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) is a national trade association representing 22,000 members from more than 19,000 construction and industry-related firms. Founded on the merit shop philosophy, ABC and its 70 chapters help members win work and deliver that work safely, ethically and profitably for the betterment of the communities in which they work.
